About Hilde Hoekstra

Biography

Hilde Hoekstra was born in The Netherlands in 1964. Her father, Hidde Hoekstra, was a renowned art connaisseur, who published several books about Rembrandt. Being a professional graphic designer Hilde often stepped away from her computer to return to paints and inks. From 2012 onwards she dedicates all of her time to painting and printing. She has since reached a growing number of admirers, resulting in several exhibitions in The Netherlands and many sales all over the world. Countries she has shipped her work to include The United States, Austria, The United Kingdom, Portugal, France, Singapore and The Netherlands.

Hilde about her work:

“I make use of various techniques to surprise and refresh myself. Painting with oils or

acrylics, printing, drawing, - nothing is fixed. Printing gives me the pleasure of surprise. It always turns out different than expected, which in turn triggers new painting ideas! I get inspired by music, everyday life and nature. Animals play a big part in my work – it feels like they can tell a tale that’s already in my mind. A tale without a beginning or an end, but with a feel of importance, like a freeze frame in a film.”
