I wanted to capture the quiet, atmospheric poetry of Venice beneath a soft and diffused sky. The distant domes and the small boats are connected by the reflective water, while architectural details are intentionally simplified so the city seems to dissolve into the humid air. Cool blue-grays dominate the composition, touched by subtle warmth in the sky and water.
I used loose, economical brushwork and layered tonal variations to create depth, while short horizontal strokes suggest ripples and reflections. A small glow of orange in the sky becomes a gentle focal point, echoed by the light on the water and giving warmth to the otherwise tranquil scene.
