a new study for "Dignity" series.
retaken now, Jun 2025
Hi, I started working with this kind of portrait more recently — where the image gets interrupted, broken, layered with aggressive marks or color. Not to destroy it, but to shift the focus.
It’s about contrast: between a painted, recognizable face and something more raw, uncertain. I’m interested in what happens when a portrait stops being about likeness and becomes something else — more emotional, more instinctive.
materials used:
- oil and acrylic
- varnish
- gallery-wrapped frame, staple-free edges
- it is ready to hang or you can frame it, as you wish
- the colors may look a bit different on other devices/ screens
====
portrait, study, man, beard, nobleman, raw energy, deconstruction, instinctive, claire obscure, figure study
oil and acrylic on canvas
