There is a ring-necked pheasant in my garden. He comes to visit often and feeds off the seeds dropped by the songbirds. Sometimes he brings his partner and looks particularly regal, protective and vigilant. I fancy they have a nest and are feeding their chicks in one of my trees. He is aware of me, but not afraid of me which makes me feel very privileged. I had to paint him…
