This painting is a celebration of a white peony—one of the flowers that most excites my mind. I’m drawn to the way its petals unfold and turn outward, as if the bloom is caught in a moment of gentle motion. The layers of form feel almost alive, echoing the amazing fragrance and the delicate beauty of its colour.
There’s something distinctly magical about the peony for me: it feels immersive, like it surrounds the viewer with softness, calm, and wonder. To emphasize that feeling, I chose a round composition. The circular shape adds visual appeal and creates a sense of fullness and volume, drawing attention to the layered centre and letting the bloom feel even more radiant and abundant.
