Award-Winning Original Pastel Painting

Cat is an original pastel portrait capturing the quiet beauty, character and expressive nature of one of our most familiar animal companions.

Cats can communicate an extraordinary amount through the smallest expression or glance. In this portrait, I wanted to capture that characteristic combination of curiosity, independence and quiet confidence.

The artwork was created entirely by hand using professional artist-quality pastels on paper. I gradually developed the portrait through layers of pastel, combining softer passages with fine individual strokes to create the texture of the fur and subtle changes in light and tone.

Although this is one of my smaller works, the same attention to expression, character and fine detail found throughout my wildlife portraiture was central to its creation.
