Passionate Performance (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Paul Cheng

While creating this painting, I wanted to capture the intimate moment when a violinist becomes completely immersed in music, allowing the melody to be not only heard but also felt. The musician’s intense expression forms the emotional heart of the composition. I used a dark background to isolate the figure under dramatic light, drawing attention to the face, hands, and violin. Expressive brushwork, scraped textures, and energetic splashes of white paint symbolize musical notes drifting through the air. Through subtle warm–cool contrasts and richly layered paint, I sought to convey rhythm, emotional intensity, and the living energy of a live performance.
