Original artwork description
At the centre of my artistic research is a holistic biological conception of life where both human and non-human actors have a defining place.
The human character in my paintings is capable of reflection. They have not lost the memory of their mistakes, they know the results of the destructive actions of their predecessors. Although no guilt is present, they are still in an unstable state of mind. There is a balancing act between self- frustration and the inspiration of the transformation to come. They are weak externally and they are very strong in their inner potential to regenerate and adapt anew. Compositionally and plastically, I work with the kind of empathic nature of the image that seems to translate the character's view of the self. It is in this ability to see myself from the outside that I find the source of a ghostly hope for humanity to emerge from the mode of total blindness, to be able to talk about itself, to think about itself and to draw conclusions.
