Original artwork description
Painted both on-site at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and in studio, with oil over casein paint on canvas. Features a view of an autumn maple tree with autumn leaves in shades of brilliant orange, deep orange, and gold, with red and bronze accents. The tree rests along a road. To its left can be glimpsed a shadowy woods. To the right are a cluster of autumn shrubs and a tall evergreen tree, into which iridescent pearl and blue-green paint have been incorporated. Watery effects in the sky were created with water-based casein paint, then glazed over with oil. The texture of the foliage is created with thick palette knife painting. The painting is unframed with painted sides on a stretched canvas. It has a wire on the back and is ready to hang. The shallow stretcher bars allow it to fit easily into a frame if framing is desired.
