Original artwork description:

On a hot day in July I sat myself down to paint in the shadow of a tree near the waterfront. The light was difficult, it was midday and the sky was clear blue. Plein-air painting is so very difficult but so rewarding! You have to take quick decisions and be bold. The reward is that you create a piece of art that gives you the feeling of a day and place like no photograph can do…

It was made in Amsterdam, in a garden park. It was said a kingfisher lived there, but I never saw it.

Materials used:

oilpaint
