Original artwork description:

OH I DO LIKE TO BESIDE THE SEASIDE
oil painting on canvas 100 x 120 x 5 cm

Evocative coastal moments inspired by a day trip to the seafront.

The juxtaposing of bold colours strongly affects our eye’s ability to correctly perceive the colour. This is a phenomenon called simultaneous contrast. For example, when a strong blue is placed next to a light yellow, the yellow becomes more intense. In some instances, the colours will change completely. This in turn, affects the colour vocabulary of the finished work. In a similar way, the ability of the eye to perceive colour plays a part, colour vision is affected by after images and changing light.
I've use a professional quality Stretched Block Canvases ,380 gsm, 100% cotton. Primed with a low-absorbency universal primer.
The stretcher frame is made from high quality wood from sustainable forests and the profile is in one single piece.
The canvas can easily be hung without further framing due to the stability of the thick stretchers. which have a cross support bar for increased strength.

The canvas was continually rotated in process so may be hung in any orientation.
