No. 5 Eyes Closed (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Mieke van Os

50 x 70 x 2cm (unframed)

£1,083.94

The starting point for this work is a drapery. With my camera, I search for interesting details until I see something resembling a woman's head, which fits into the Eyes Closed series. A series of portraits with the face in profile. Even though the eyes are closed, they all show emotions. A sad, pained, exuberant, dreamy, focused, or proud expression... Each portrait is made of a different material, built up from colorful layers. This one a reminiscent of Vlisco fabrics and warm earthy tones with illuminating sparks. Dutch heritage.

Materials used:

vinyl paint, fabric, glue, oil paint, crayons, oil on linen
