My Other Half (2023) Original Oil Painting by Viktoria Lapteva

This canvas depicts a solitary female figure that seems to glow from within against a backdrop of deep, earthy tones. In this context, the title "My Other Half" refers to the search for inner wholeness and that hidden part of the soul we often keep veiled from the world.
I utilized the impasto technique and a palette knife to create a complex, sculptural texture. Every facet of the woman’s form is composed of numerous vibrant color fragments, symbolizing the multifaceted nature of human personality. The golden radiance surrounding the figure emphasizes a moment of self-discovery and the attainment of inner harmony.
To bring the piece to life, I incorporated metallic and pearlescent pigments. As a result, the painting shifts its mood depending on the light: it bursts into bright sparks under direct sunlight and takes on a mysterious shimmer in soft evening lighting.
