MOSSY LOVE STORY

“These sporophytes remind me of a kissing couple, and the song Love is in the Air starts playing in my head as I look at them. That is Mossy Love Story.” — Inna Etuvgi

Bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun, this macro photograph captures an intimate moment within the forest floor. It is a visual poem where nature’s smallest forms mirror human tenderness, showing that even in the micro-world, there is space for stories we can all recognize.

This artwork is part of the SAGOSKOGEN collection—a visual dialogue rooted in the Arctic tradition of respecting nature as a living entity. Here, even two tiny sporophytes become a reminder of the deep connection between all living things.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Inna Etuvgi is a Swedish-Chukchi artist whose work defines the concept of Cybernetic Animism—a bridge between indigenous Arctic intuition and technical precision. Raised in a remote village in Chukotka and trained in technical cybernetics, Etuvgi explores the shared "soul" of natural ecosystems and digital algorithms.

Living with Aphantasia—the inability to visualize mental images—Etuvgi uses her camera and Generative AI as a "visual prosthesis" to externalize deep emotional landscapes. Her macro photography magnifies nature’s smallest details, urging a shift from a human-centered worldview to one of interconnectedness.

Internationally recognized as an Arte Laguna Prize finalist (Venice) and a recipient of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee grant, Etuvgi’s work is held in private collections worldwide. As art critic Tabish Khan notes: “Her work transports us to other worlds—both real and imaginary, but always in harmony with nature.”
