Morning Mist and Autumn Smell is small-format, nature-inspired abstract painting created with mixed acrylic techniques on raw canvas. As the work evolved in shades of muted green, dark grayish-blue areas and yellow, it began to resemble a quiet landscape — a river, fog drifting above the land, and the soft stillness of an early morning. The raw, natural canvas enhances the atmospheric quality of the piece, allowing the paint to breathe and settle organically.

The title of this original painting was inspired by a line from a poem by Kurt Tucholsky: “…and one morning you smell autumn.” That sentence, along with my own memories of misty mornings and the subtle shift of seasons, shaped both the mood and the title of the painting.

The composition blends soft, layered brushstrokes with a muted palette, evoking the feeling of fog, water, and earth. It’s a contemporary abstract landscape that invites quiet reflection and emotional connection — ideal for collectors who appreciate modern art with poetic depth, natural influences, and a sense of seasonal transition.
