Original artwork description:

This painting was originally a portrait of Miss Havisham (Charles Dickens). I have been trying to 'fix' it for months, and decided that it was a lost cause. I think it is because my mind is totally wrapped up in my English Garden series. I thought: what would Miss Havisham's garden look like? ... and came up with this wild and woolly design.

Done on Plywood 80cm by 100cm. The board was painted with gesso and then covered with pages from Great Expectations, the novel. At this final stage you can't see any of the text.

Materials used:

paper from Great Expectations, Acrylic Paint.
