Midnight over the Forest Bridge (2025) Original Oil Painting by Dmitry Fedorov

Painted under the cover of night in the heart of the Netherlands, this piece captures the quiet, mysterious beauty of an illuminated forest path in October. Working en plein air, I wanted to translate the dramatic contrast between the deep, velvety shadows of the Dutch woods and the warm, golden glow of the solitary lamp post reflecting off the wooden bridge.
The thick, expressive brushstrokes and the use of a dark ground emphasize the play of light through the autumn leaves. There is a profound sense of stillness here—a moment of solitary reflection found on a crisp October night.
