Midnight Horizon (2026) Original Oil Painting by Cat Goward

Midnight Horizon is a semi-abstract mountain painting capturing the last light illuminating distant snow-capped peaks. An expansive deep-blue sky contrasts with the glowing horizon, while layers of rolling foothills disappear into the landscape below.

Inspired by my trek along the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal, the painting captures that moment as you journey deeper into the Himalayas and the great peaks begin to appear on the horizon.

I use my signature impasto brushstrokes to subtly define the distant mountains, while layers of soft colour and mist create depth and atmosphere. As the light fades, the foothills dissolve into shadow and the snow-covered peaks remain illuminated against the night sky.
