A charming original watercolour of a brown hare sat in a summer meadow, by top selling artist Mel Davies.
A perfect balance of detailed character and loose, expressive painting. The hare is full of life, with tall ears tipped in black, bright inquisitive eyes and soft, warm fur painted in honey brown, fawn and grey with delicate mauve shadows. Fine whiskers and a gentle, alert expression give him real personality.
He is set against a beautifully loose, impressionistic background - wet-on-wet washes of sage green, sky blue, lemon and wildflower purples and yellows that suggest a hedgerow meadow without overpowering the subject.
