María's secret (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Lola Juan

The concept for "Mary's Secret" emerged from an exploration of domestic solitude and the quiet, surreal moments found within everyday routines. Set against a textured backdrop reminiscent of patterned bathroom tiles, the composition captures a figure partially concealed behind a curtain rod, wrapping herself in a quiet pause after a bath.
Inspiration stemmed from transforming mundane objects into an intricate, dreamlike sanctuary. The vibrant, fiery flow of her hair weaves together unexpected symbols—from a small birdhouse to origami-like creatures, a ladled egg, and a rooster perched nearby. The blue accent draped from her elaborate hairstyle functions as a towel, blending functional bathing rituals with surrealist narrative elements.
This piece holds a unique charm because it transforms a fleeting, private moment into a rich visual puzzle. By juxtaposing delicate portraiture with imaginative, storybook symbolism, "Mary's Secret" invites viewers to look closely and discover the hidden stories, quiet wonder, and personal magic tucked away in an ordinary space.
