The magenta sky, against the deep darkness of the ocean beneath, is a striking palette. The painting is slightly textured and catches the light, making the soft colours burst and glow.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The deep and varied tones are developed by layering and lifting the paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
