Lyme Bay II (2025) Etchings & engravings by Lizzie Butler
40.5 x 31 x 0.1cm (unframed) / 27.5 x 21cm (actual image size)
£190
Artwork description
Tranquil and atmospheric etching of this stunning stretch of English coastline.
This landscape print, of the view from Lyme Regis, depicts the Jurassic Coast stretching into the distance, evokes a feeling of peaceful spaciousness.
A limited edition of just 15 prints from this etching plate.
To create this etching I have used a zinc plate, aquatint (melting resin dust onto the plate with a flame, to allow the ink to 'grip'), litho crayon, acid and burnishing. Then professional etching ink is smeared onto the plate and selectively removed. The image is created by placing the inked plate onto the bed of an etching press, with a damp sheet of 'Somerset' hand made, white paper, laid on top. The press is then 'hand wound', pressing the plate and paper together, transferring the image from plate to paper.
Image/plate size 27.5 x 21cm
Paper size 40.5 x 34cm
Print number 1/15
This etching is signed, titled and numbered beneath the image (see photograph).
A signed Certificate of Authenticity will be provided.
