Lilies and Light (2016) Linocut by Alexandra Buckle
21 x 21 x 1cm (unframed) / 15 x 15cm (actual image size)
£75Sold
Artwork description
A reduction linocut of lily pads floating on a pond. The inspiration for this print came from the Botanic Gardens in Oxford and a life long love of Monet's water lilies.
This is my third water lily inspired piece. This one is completed in a more subtle colour palette than the other two. I was keen to captured the moment the sun hit the lily pond, creating a muted silvery sparkle.
Please note, the full edition of 25 prints is promised to a print exchange. I am selling the few AP's (artists proofs) I managed to print on top of the edition. There are eight APs, one of which I will keep for myself. There are 33 prints in total.
A reduction lino print is formed with layers of colour that are cut and printed from the same block. These linocuts are printed by hand so small variations occur between them making each one truly original.
This work is printed with water-based, light-fast inks on Somerset Satin paper and has a beautiful matt finish. Below the print is written 'AP', the title and my signature. It is mounted in a neutral colour and wrapped in cellophane to keep it clean. The mounted work will fit straight into a standard off-the-shelf 10x10inch frame.
This artwork will be packaged in a bubble envelope with plenty of card support for safety.
