Lilac Profusion (2024) Original Oil Painting by Christina M Plichta

Painted on-site at the MN Landscape Arboretum, with finishing work completed in studio. Features a sunny evening scene from the lilac collection with a spectrum of colors of blossoms, including deep purple, burgundy purple, blue-ish lavender, and fuchsia pink. In the center of the painting, the blossoms become so thick that they cover the canvas almost entirely. Pine trees that encircle the collection can be seen peeking over the tops of the lilac bushes. The evening sky is tinted with a spectrum of colors, and sunlight streams through onto the lush grass.
Painted in oil over casein paint on canvas with both palette knife and brush. The shapes of the clusters of blossoms have been enhanced with thickly textured paint.
The painting continues onto the sides of the canvas. The canvas is ready-to-hang with a wire on the back, and may be displayed unframed, or may be framed if desired.
