Sailing ships have always seemed very mysterious to me, calling for adventure. This watercolor was painted in one of the most picturesque places in Ålesund, near the ferry station of Molja, where sailing ships can often be seen. A lighthouse was built here in 1858. and became one of the city’s attractions, beloved by both citizens and tourists.
