Le Consulat cafe winter (2026) Original Watercolour by Darren Carey
28 x 38cm (unframed) / 28 x 38cm (actual image size)
£425
Original artwork description
A beautifully atmospheric winter scene capturing the iconic Le Consulat café in the heart of Montmartre, Paris, transformed beneath a deep blanket of snow.
The familiar red façade and traditional Parisian character stand out against the soft whites and muted tones of the winter street. The outdoor tables and empty chairs sit quietly beneath the snow, giving the scene an almost peaceful stillness, while the warm golden light glowing from within the café creates a wonderful contrast against the coldness of the evening outside.
There is a sense that the busy streets of Montmartre have momentarily fallen silent, leaving Le Consulat as a welcoming refuge from the winter cold. The snow-covered pavement, empty seating and gentle illumination from the windows create a feeling of solitude, warmth and nostalgia.
Painted in my impressionistic style, I have aimed to capture not only the recognisable charm of this much-loved Parisian café, but also the magical atmosphere of Montmartre on a quiet winter’s day.
Thank you for viewing my painting.
