Summer Reflections on Lake Como

This vibrant watercolour capturing the beauty and tranquillity of Lake Como on a bright summer day. The painting combines refreshing washes of turquoise and blue across the lake with lush Mediterranean greenery, colourful pink flowering shrubs and elegant Italian villas nestled beneath the dramatic mountain landscape.
The sweeping flowering foliage in the foreground draws the eye naturally across the water towards the gardens, architecture and mountains beyond, creating a wonderful sense of depth. Delicate details such as the distant birds, cypress trees and warm terracotta rooftops add to the unmistakable atmosphere of the Italian lakes.
Painted with vibrant layered watercolour washes on 300gsm rough-grain watercolour paper, the texture of the paper adds character to the washes and helps create the sparkling, slightly impressionistic quality of the water and foliage.

Thank you for viewing my painting.
