Keys to Heaven (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Jolanta Talaikiene

60.96 x 91.44cm (unframed)

£7,192.77

With this painting, I wanted to convey a surreal allegory about power, control, and the “locked” states within the human mind.
The dominant central figure appears as a manipulator or director of events. The goggles on his head resemble those of an aviator or experimenter, while the key in his hands becomes the most important symbol. It is not merely a physical key, but a key of control — access to consciousness itself.
The surrounding figures seem hypnotized and passive. Their bodies are identical, stripped of individuality. Each holds a small door, symbolizing the human being as a closed world. These doors represent the inner self — emotions, identity, and personal truth hidden behind a lock. The central figure smiles with a cunning expression. In his hands rests the key to all of these “doors.” People entrust their inner worlds to something outside themselves — an “authority,” a system, an ideology, or even fear itself.
The airships floating across the sky intensify the atmosphere of surveillance and control. The geometric lines surrounding them resemble diagrams or mechanisms, reinforcing the impression that the entire world has been designed and orchestrated by an unseen force.

Awarded Honorable Mention 2025 in Annual World Art Academy contest in Naive Art.
