Original artwork description
During winter when the garden died down, I noticed the kale plants. They were standing there, dotted around the garden like living sculptures. I found the leaves interesting to draw, they have a bubbled surface that adds distortion to their shapes. I sat outside and drew them, even on the frosty days. One day I turned a leaf over and found a fat, green caterpillar nestled in the curl of the leaf, sheltered from the winter weather
