DESCRIPTION: Located in San Marino, about 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles, the Huntington Botanical Gardens are a Zen paradise for those who are fortunate enough to visit. Encompassing about 130 acres, there are 16 truly stunning themed gardens. One of my most favorite is the Japanese Garden. An iconic landscape that’s graced the Huntington for over a century and features a distinctive moon bridge, koi-filled ponds and the historic Shoya House. I wandered the grounds for several hours before finally landing on my composition. I opted for a Kodak Aerochrome (infrared sensitive, false-color film) look to give the image a surreal, almost other-worldly appearance filled with vibrant hues. Try and imagine strolling through these gardens on a Sunday morning, cup of your favorite cofree in hand and all the while thinking everything in the world is simply wonderful. Life should always be this good.
