I See Your Soul is an original pastel portrait exploring the extraordinary intensity, beauty and mystery of the leopard.

The inspiration for this painting came from the animal's gaze. There are moments when looking into the eyes of a wild animal feels like something more than observation — a silent connection in which, for just a moment, we seem to recognise something in one another.

That feeling inspired the title I See Your Soul.

I wanted the eyes to hold the viewer's attention first, while the intricate markings and textures of the leopard gradually reveal themselves around them. The stillness of the portrait allows the animal's expression and presence to become the focus.

The artwork was created entirely by hand using professional artist-quality pastels on paper. I gradually built the portrait through many layers, combining soft tonal transitions with extremely fine pastel strokes to create depth, texture and the natural complexity of the leopard's coat.

For me, wildlife realism is not simply about reproducing what I see. I want to capture something more difficult to describe — the individuality, emotion and presence of the animal itself.
