The title of this work is based on the poem 'Black Space' by Ishion Hutchinson, the first line of which is 'I can bring a halo'. I found that first line captivating and wanted to explore what this painting in particular, and my art in general, can 'bring'. This work is an explosive exploration of colour; it is dynamic and vivid. The central 'explosion' is painted in a potent dark cherry red, going into pink and black in places. On one side it is grounded in earth colours, on the other it hovers on a mist. The painting is an unapologetic statement of creativity, of passion and freedom.
