Original artwork description
While painting on location during a plein air painting competition in Steelville, MO, I chose this scene of a young woman walking down a sunlit, tree-lined street with a pickup parked truck in the foreground. The lush green foliage and soft shadows createD a tranquil, natural atmosphere. I always try to capture the light effect of the actual scene and as I usually do, I pushed the colors from the local colors to colors that incorporate more intense reds, blues, violets, and yellows. I also used red and yellow greens.
My materials include artist oils and a primed linen panel. The painting measures 16" x 8" or 41 x 20 centimeters. A professional camera was used to ensure the image is as close to the actual painting colors as I can get. I varnished the painting to protect and preserve the paint surface.
