A Country Lane in Fife – 20cm b x 34cm h actual size. Framed size 30 x 40 cm €95 (incl. commission)

This is a place where my sister and I often walk with the dogs when I visit her in her home region of Fife, Scotland. I was attracted to the subject because of the composition of the winding lane, the old hedgerows, the traditional building with its tall chimney and natural stone on the horizon and, of course, that lovely field of oil seed rape. My sister, who is watercolour artist too, also said she had thought of painting it and so we went there together to paint the scene, each in her own individual style. This is my version, capturing the memory of a springtime walk above the coast in the of a lovely countryside of Fife, Scotland. I have concentrated on depicting the different textures of the grass, the hedges, the lane, the fields on both sides, the house and the distant trees which all form this pleasing and colourful composition. I applied undiluted colour straight from the tube to get that yellow sparkle!

“A Country Lane in Fife” was painted in the rural countryside above the old fishing village Culross on the East coast of Scotland on 600g rough grain, mould made Hahnemühle watercolour paper using Windsor and Newton paints. The painting comes in a warm white mount to fit a standard frame size of 30cm x 40cm and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. If you like this painting, you might want to take a look at the rest of my series of Scotland paintings too.
