head study 10-15-20 is a large scale portrait study on canvas using a muted palette contrasting with areas of vibrant colour. The work is built up with loosely applied glazes and stripping back, revealing the painting's history. It continues my interest in the presentation and concepts of beauty. We are exposed to countless images of manipulated perfection of the human form. This work is a counterbalance to this through the use of uneven surface textures and blotches of paint. Creating imperfect or flawed beauty.
