'Greenfire Meadow' (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Jo Starkey

Greenfire Meadow is an expressive celebration of a summer wildflower meadow, where vibrant greens glow beneath delicate blooms and textured grasses sway gently in the light. Inspired by the untamed beauty of the British countryside, this contemporary mixed media painting captures the energy and abundance of nature rather than a specific place.

Created through multiple layers of acrylic and mixed media, the painting has evolved intuitively, allowing each flower and seed head to emerge naturally from the richly textured surface. Sculptural impasto flowers rise above a tapestry of expressive grasses, while delicate metallic gold highlights catch and reflect the light, adding warmth, luminosity and subtle movement as the viewing angle changes.
