Original artwork description
Original abstract painting in rust, terracotta and gold
Golden Haze began with the warmth of late autumn light. I was drawn to the colours of a landscape bathed in golden sun: rust and terracotta like fallen leaves, burnt orange glowing in the earth, and a soft, creamy mist drifting over everything. Instead of working towards a fixed image, I let these colours lead me and allowed myself to experiment freely.
The painting grew slowly, layer by layer. I applied and partly removed the paint again and again, letting each layer veil the one beneath it while still allowing it to shine through. This creates a richly textured, weathered surface with real depth. Generous touches of gold run through the composition, catching the light like sunbeams breaking through a warm haze.
What makes this work special to me is its glow. The deep rust and earthy browns give it strength and warmth, while the pale, misty upper half feels light and open. Together they create a sense of a quiet evening, when the day slowly softens. The gold reacts beautifully to changing light, so the painting feels different in the morning than it does in the evening.
With its warm, earthy palette, Golden Haze brings depth and comfort to a living room, dining room or hallway. It pairs beautifully with natural wood, linen, leather, terracotta and brass accents, and suits warm minimalist, rustic and contemporary interiors.
Golden Haze is part of my Veiled Light series, in which I explore how colour, texture and light can reveal and conceal at the same time.
