Glasgow Harbour, A Bygone Age (2026) Original Watercolour by Darren Carey
38 x 28cm (unframed) / 38 x 28cm (actual image size)
£345
Original artwork description
A nostalgic glimpse of Glasgow’s historic waterfront between 1868 and 1906, capturing a time when the River Clyde was at the heart of the city's thriving maritime and industrial life.
Tall sailing ships and working boats fill the harbour, their masts and rigging rising against a softly painted blue sky. On the quayside, an old harbour crane stands beside the weathered buildings, while the distant industrial skyline disappears into the atmospheric haze.
The cool blue and muted earthy tones create a calm, slightly misty atmosphere, while the reflections of the boats gently breaking across the water add depth and movement to the scene.
Painted in my loose and expressive watercolour style, this original artwork celebrates Glasgow's proud maritime heritage and offers a nostalgic glimpse into a rapidly changing city at the turn of the 20th century.
Thank you for viewing my painting.
