Full Moon Walkers (2023) Original Acrylic Painting by Jolanta Talaikiene
60.96 x 76.2cm (unframed)
£6,710.99
Original artwork description
With this painting, I wanted to convey a rather pessimistic vision of our world. Deep within us, the “herd” instinct still remains firmly rooted. Here I portrayed the leader of the herd wearing a rabbit mask and the attributes of a ruler. In this narrative, the image of the rabbit symbolizes limited intellect and primitive survival instincts. Yet he firmly controls and governs the entire herd, within which we can also see human-like faces among the sheep. I leave it to the viewer to decide — are the sheep finally becoming human, or are humans degrading into sheep?
The figure of the little girl holding an egg symbolizes the growing generation. She observes the environment that shapes the principles through which future generations will understand the world. Everything seems balanced on the edge. The question is — to which side will the “scales” ultimately tip?
The fish blowing bubbles symbolizes meaningless talk and empty promises. The moon-balloon, like the ruler of everything, watches from above with satisfaction. It seems unaware that it is hollow and just as temporary...
The lighthouse without light, and the sheep standing beside it, create a sense of waiting for a miracle. After all, a lighthouse is meant to shine, to show the way, to give hope... hope that one day we will still witness a different world — a World of Light.
