"Frolic, en Bleu, a' la Plage" (2016) Original Acrylic Painting by Holly Wojahn

Several years ago while living in Collioure, France ( the Colorful Artist's Colony on the Mediterranean, where the Fauvist Movement was born) I finally addressed this image, several times over.... It is after one of my favorite paintings by Picasso; his piece called "The Race".... Picasso's depicts just this subject; two women, hands joined, running along the beach... My personal favorite detail in this painting is the "ample-ness" of the women.... No skinny girls here; oh, no!!! Animation, suggested by flying manes of hair, is set against a static background, that appears in stacked layers.... This canvas is painted around the edges so it can be hung without framing....
