Some love does not fade with the years. It glows brighter the longer it burns.
Forever Love is an original acrylic painting on board, 30 x 20cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came a deep green and blue landscape, two figures standing hand in hand before a burning gold light, and birds moving through the water below.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the figures and the birds, moving through a glowing, imagined Australian landscape. This one is about a love that has had time to prove itself, the kind that does not need to be new to still be the brightest thing in the room.
