Following the Wind (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Daiva Rožukienė

50 x 50 x 3.8cm (unframed)

£447.64

“Following the Wind” is a painting about movement, freedom and the courage to follow your own direction.
A sailing yacht cuts through the waves with its sails full, driven forward by the wind. For me, this image represents that moment when we stop resisting and allow ourselves to move with life rather than against it.
The sea is restless, the wind is strong, yet the yacht continues forward. It becomes a symbol of determination, trust and inner freedom – of choosing a direction and having the courage to keep going.
Soft neutral tones are combined with cool blues and golden accents, creating a balance between strength and calmness. The expressive surface and layered texture bring energy and movement to the composition.
This painting was inspired by my love of sailing and the feeling of being on the water, where the horizon always seems to promise something new.
Sometimes the right direction is the one the wind helps us discover.

Acrylic and oil paints, applied with brushes and palette knife on canvas
