Original artwork description
A loose arrangement of flowers rises against a deep green ground that darkens towards the bottom of the canvas. The largest red blooms sit low in the composition. Above them, small strokes of yellow, orange, blue and white lead the eye through a much lighter cluster of flowers. Rather than holding the bouquet inside a neat outline, the painter lets colour spread across the surface.
The paint is thick enough to catch side light, especially around the red petals. From a distance, the scattered marks settle into a lively floral image; up close, each touch of colour has room to be noticed. Its upright 60 × 40 cm format would work on a narrow wall or beside a simple piece of furniture. The dark ground gives the bright flowers plenty of space, so the painting remains clear even in a room with other colours.
