Fleur de Mer began as an experiment with the color blue, of thinning the pigment, of tracing abstract swirls of botanical shapes that seemed to reach upward from a watery floor below a gentle current. Some of the flowery gestures nestling on this watery floor were also a trial in loose, voluminous applications of paint directly from the tube, then using a palette knife to coax these shapes into being slightly more recognizable without loosing their completely expressionist nature. Into the deep blue stains and washes, this petite garden was created, as gently as the name Fleur is pronounced, like the subtle underwater drift effecting a never ending sway.

Fleur de Mer arrives prewired, ready to hang.
