First Flush Of Spring (2017)Oil painting

As winter gives way to the freshness of spring, the landscape takes on a bright and youthful quality. This bridge is a particular favourite of mine where it crosses so closely to the fast running stream over smooth worn boulders. As I stared at the foaming water rushing past I wanted to translate this feeling of spring into an oil painting.

I made several quick studies of the scene in oil paint , noting the strong tonal contrasts which the light accentuated. I wanted to work directly from these oil sketches back in the studio, into a larger finished oil painting keeping the freshness of the scene.

First Flush Of Spring is a framed original oil painting created and painted by myself. The back of the artwork is signed and you will receive a Certificate of Authenticity.
