A profile study combining Conté crayon, pastel and charcoal with liquin on raw, reused and prepared canvas. The dry media give immediacy and drawing directness, while the liquin binds them into a painted surface, creating a texture between sketch and painting. The unbleached canvas shows through as warm undertone, working with the pigment rather than being covered by it. Part of an ongoing exploration of mixed media approaches that sit between drawing and painting.
