Artwork description:

The etching Fields 2 (and also Fields 1) remind of footpaths along the coastal hills of the South Downs, UK. The etching shows the gentle flow of the hills with the foot paths leading up to the top. On the other side is the sea and often steep drops of cliffs down to the waterline.
When walking along the paths of the soft flowing hills a turn in the path can reveal a sudden change of landscape. I often find myself walking along a gentle hill when a view steps further the land changes, with a sudden fresh breeze in the air I realise I am on a cliff top with the sea spread out in front of me.
The experience of this change in landscape is like a calm magic to me. Even though I know every time, the sea is right there in front about to reveal itself.
The etchings are hand-printed in an edition of 10 from 1 steel plate on acid free paper in my studio in Brighton/UK.
The image size is 22cm x 22cm with a paper margin of about 6cm all around.
