Festina Lente (2024) Original Oil Painting by Eelke van Hoof

Festina Lente is an Italian saying and means ‘make haste slowly’. It’s an invitation to slow down in daily life. This was kind of a topic for me when working on this painting. I did often tell myself a version I heard someone say which goes like this: slow is smooth and smooth is fast. When we slow down and approach life’s tasks more consciously, things go a lot smoother and in the end often even faster….. which is not even the objective.

This painting has different organic structures: the yellow parts are made from structure paste with sand and the golden parts in the aubergine colour and white parts in the magenta colour are made with thick oil painting mediums to obtain an extra 3D-effect.

The sides of the painting are the same colour as the front.

This painting will be packaged in a cardboard box with an inner casing for maximum protection.
