My start point was a Jenny Holzer Truism
Solitude is Enriching
I love to spend time on the North Norfolk coastal strip, it is raw and beautiful with the fields running down to the North Sea, and wanted to include the landscape in the painting, along with a fox and hare - often seen in the fields here and a woman enjoying the solitude of the landscape in comfort.
My Google image search returned a woman on a sofa, though not the sofa in the painting.
The image was called The Modern Fainter. I found that funny - a hare will feint to outwit a fox, and the woman was a fainter too, though with different spelling. I like word play.
The painting is also a reworking of the Greek myth of Dannae and the shower of gold, with the golden shower worked using glitter suspended in a medium enabling it to be painted in varying levels of transparency, its quite subtle, another feint.
