Original artwork description:

Farewell Swallows is a large original oil painting of two swallows in a semi-abstract English countryside landscape. It is 36x36x1.5 inches. The painting shows a tree lined country lane with a hint of the landscape in the far distance that the road is travelling to. The sun is filtering through the trees from the left casting dappled shadows on the track. Two swallows have burst through the trees moving impossibly fast as swallows do. The painting is an actual place in East Sussex. I took a walk there in September where I watched the swallows fattening up on insects in midair just prior to their long trip south. The lane goes down to the Ouse river valley and gentle hills around Lewes. To the right, if you were standing in this exact spot, you would see Seaford Head on the English south coast and Lewes castle off to the left. I painted the scene deliberately recognizable and yet a little odd as this better reflects the beautiful timelessness and otherworldliness of some of the areas I walk in. Painted on deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Materials used:

oil on canvas
